THE STADIUMS WE BUILD

With football season looming, I can’t help but find fascination with the stadiums built specifically for this sport. One of the most recent stadiums, the Raiders’ Allegiant Stadium, came with a final price tag of $1.9B and is able to seat 65,000 people. With ground-breaking technology and an impressive digital currency system, the stadium has impressed a lot of people. Though, that price doesn’t compare to the $5.5B So-Fi stadium in Los Angeles constructed in 2016 which has additionally become a central space for major events happening in the Inglewood neighborhood. There’s no doubt these feats of engineering and technology leave any spectator marveling.

LOOKING THROUGH THE EYES OF JESUS

“What do you see in the crowd? Do you see opportunity, responsibility, obligation, open doors, inconvenience, irritation, or endless expectations and demands? There are people in every crowd who need to be seen, recognized, helped, loved, served, encouraged. There are people in every crowd who feel ignored, rejected, burdened, overlooked, undervalued, unappreciated, helpless, and afraid.”

Youtube theology

“The internet is a dangerous place. In the last couple of years I have noticed a steady increase of spiritual-based conversations built on the foundation of something like “I was watching YouTube and heard someone talk about…” or “the podcast I listened to told me…” While there is nothing inherently wrong with listening to some of the other voices, the problem arrives when those voices become louder than the Word of God…”

“Two weeks ago, I was driving home from school and noticed a big orange sign in a construction zone where they were working on the road. The sign read, “Loved ones at work.” For days (and I guess weeks at this point), that sign has been on my mind. The message was an effort to get people to slow down in construction zones and to consider that the laborers are loved ones – brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, children, grandchildren, grandparents and friends…”

SEEING PEOPLE AS “LOVED ONES”

HOW CAN A GOOD GOD SEND PEOPLE TO HELL?

“One must always be careful in how they approach the wisdom of God when begging questions such as “how could God send a soul to hell?” For in so questioning the mind of God, a finite mind is challenging the omniscience of an Almighty being. Paul, in relation to the message of the cross, would write “For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.” Our brightest minds pale in comparison to the weakest thought of God. Yet in that infinite power, one ought to take comfort in knowing the big questions like these can be answered when sought in humility…”
